Hey hey hey.

I'm here. I did "OK" for Christmas in terms of eating. I'm going to go back to counting points on Weight Watchers, at least for the next month or so. I need that discipline right now.

I got a gift card for TJ Maxx for Christmas so I went and bought a yoga kit with it...it has a sticky mat, a block, and a cotton strap (for stretching out I'm assuming).

Yay. I also bought a Pilates book.

I'm not waiting for the New Year to start. I started today. I'm tired of being so stressed out and tired. My immune system is very weak right now because I'm not taking care of myself.

I have to take care of myself. I just keep thinking that I'm not getting any younger. I have diabetics in the family. Heart problems abound. I don't want to end up sick.

Anyway, my plan for tomorrow is lots and lots of water, Pilates, and lots of veggies. And I'm going to force myself to get up early and make a breakfast involving some sort of protein. Considering it's already 1 am that's going to be hellish...but...

You know what? I was pretty darn good on Christmas. I ate only one plate of food during the big dinner, and only two pieces of pie throughout the whole day.

I have been needing lately to feel light. Not so much weight-wise. Just, you know, not encumbered. Like I need to be just a little bit hungry all the time, not full all the time. This is a good feeling.

Chris (my husband) was talking about binge eating yesterday. It's a pastime we engage in together. He said that the problem with binge eating is that it only makes you feel good while you're doing it. After you're done, then you feel physically sick and emotionally ashamed. So to make the eating work for you--to make it answer whatever insistent questions are going on in your psyche--you have to be doing it all the time. You're never sated, even when you can't breathe because of the pounds of food in your belly.

Don't even TRY to lose weight during the holidays. Just try to maintain. As far as exercise, I think it needs to hold a very high priority - make a schedule and stick to it. I'm lucky that one of my 3 jobs is coaching kids to cross-country ski, so at the very minimum, I'm getting a workout 3 days a week.

I believe trying to suddenly eat well and exercise regularly is a lot to tackle at once, so just pick one, and the other may follow. I know that when I'm exercising a lot, I don't even feel like eating sweets (my downfall). In January, I signed up for a Salsa & Cha-Cha class - now that's what I call a FUN way of getting some exercise.

In the words of Dr. Phil, if it ain't workin' for you, cut it out - try something new. I got my first real haircut in TEN YEARS - and although I'm still afraid of my bangs, it's inspired me to spend time making myself look good - which has helped my confidence tremendously. Sometimes going from the outside in helps!
