Hopkins Health Clinic
The village has a small health clinic on the sea front near the main intersection of the village
which most of the locals call the "crossroads". Ask anyone and they will direct you there. there isn't always a
doctor or nurse, and you won't find a pharmacy. Bring your meds from home. But most people are pretty healthy in Hopkins,
so you don't really need to worry much about communicable diseases. Use your judgement as you would anywhere else, especially
regarding sexual encounter, as there is a lot of HIV in Belize.
Security
There is a police department at the crossroads, and one constable
who makes his rounds on a bicycle. There isn't a lot of crime, so a major police force just isn't called for. But remember
that every place you go in the world there are those have-nots who covet the belongings of the haves. Again, use your judgment
when it comes to security and you'll be fine.
