WD Loughman - Site Information
My masthead logo represents two interesting things:
First, it's a "squared-off" Archimedean Spiral.
Second, it displays a solution of the 4-color map theorem.
I like that it's both of these at once, in a simple graphic.
This example of John Sharp's work was in the September 2007 issue of "Hyperseeing" magazine, found online in mid-2008. I've modified it slightly, changing the original colors slightly, and making them brighter.
My web-site had simple beginnings: Nearly a decade ago it was a "Welcome!" page with only a few links to pages with my CV and publications. Just a convenient way to put that information into the hands of those who wanted or needed it. That's still its function, housing little-changed (but spruced-up) information. Now though under the umbrella of the "Professional" tab, above left.
Since retiring, I needed neither to attract professional attention nor to actively seek consults. The concept though was useful; it had worked. Since my family and friends now are scattered nation-wide and beyond, it seemed also a good way to help them keep them abreast of my/our lives. That purpose too continues, but its fruit now is under the "Personal" tab, above left.
Then a few years ago I discovered I was autistic. That was a possibility I'd considered decades before, but discarded for lack of useful criteria. So I sought and received professional confirmation. With that certain knowledge in hand my life-long need of self-explanation finally was satisfied.
Autism, autistic cognition, me even, has become another of my several long-lasting obessions. Indeed it's now perhaps the chiefest among them: the 'capo di tutti i capi' of the things that occupy my time and energies. All of that now is under the new "Autism" tab, above left.
Of course over the years my simple web-site got quite out of hand. Too much stuff, too hard to maintain, un-attractive; ...all that. So awhile ago I embarked on a major overhaul. The result is this rather larger and better(?) organized site. ...Including this very page, which you found under the new "Home" tab, again 'above left'.
Relatives, friends and passers-by: I hope it meets with your approval, and that you will be emboldened to write with comments and criticism. ...Or just to "converse" on subjects of mutual interest
See "Contact Me" under "Home", above left.
