My Co-Morbidities

man working   ... incomplete for now; bear with me ...   man working

Revealing one's medical failings in public would seem like a strange thing to do.
However...   AS and autism have strong genetic components. My mother almost certainly was AS herself, and had many of the conditions now afficting me.

A professional geneticist (that would be me) is nothing other than remiss not to record which things might "go along" with AS.
Since no one in the "Medical Establishment" ever has been interested in documenting histories of, ...er, elderly AS adults, I have to do it myself. That's one driving force behind all my autism pages.

So, ("recognized" conditions in bold) here goes...

  1. Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, eventuating in...
  2. ...intractable Atrial fibrillation   (most likely familial)
  3. Sjögren's syndrome   (auto-immune problem; likely familial)
  4. "Asteroid hyalitis", left side   (strong genetic component)
  5. Medium-duration gastric disturbances throughout my life
  6. Various delays in body development   (see below)
  7. Family history of autism? or autism-similar characters

Delays in body development

  1. Inguinal hernia   (very early spontaneous rupture - familial?)
  2. "Compromised" immune system   (slow recovery}
  3. Intra-ventricular leakage   (spontaneous closure by age 8-10)
  4. Post-auricular fistula   (late appearance, under stress)
  5. Failure to reach predicted height   (bone-growth study)

On the other hand, possible good things... Slow to age   (overall appearance of a much younger person)

  • "High IQ"   (familial - maternal)
  • This is not a complete list, ...but close. In time, I'll put flesh on these bare bones - descriptions, etc. Till then, this is another placeholder.

Perhaps it will provoke a reader to ask questions. See "Home" » "Contact Me", above left.
