WB8YJF Service was started in 1988 by me,Jon Severt. The name "WB8YJF Service" comes from my Ham Radio callsign. Originally prior to the bowling service, I serviced Ham Radio equipment. Due to the costs of new stationary, new phone numbers, bank accounts, etc. , I opted to keep the original name. I was with AMF Bowling prior to the start of the business in their engineering department. After AMF re-located to Richmond, VA. I was offered to go to Richmond or get laid off. I didn't want to move to Virginia, so I decided to give it a go on my own. The business was started to give proprietors an after market source of service for the older, outdated electronics that were being "phased out" by the parent company. Since then, I have expanded to cover just about the entire line of AMF (tm) electronics. I can save you money AND time! Over the phone advise and troubleshooting is provided FREE OF CHARGE, again to save you time and money. We are located in New Albany, Ohio, a rural community located just N.E. of Columbus. Small town service with big city results! I am very active in my hobby often traveling to some very obscure locations to participate in International Ham Radio "Contests" Some of the places I have travelled to for these world-wide contest's are Bermuda, Chatham Island, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau, Labrador, Tahiti, Rurutu Island, Various islands in the USA, etc. The picture of ME below is from Chatham Island, New Zealand in 1995. Chatham Island boasts to be the "First place in the world to see the new day" due to it's location near the international date line. I also visit bowling centers when I travel to see how the "rest of the world" does it. It seems that there is a bowling alley everywhere in the world! Too bad I don't speak any other languages! This is a "QSL Card" from my operations from Ocracoke Island, NC south of Hatteras Island in the NC Outter banks. The lighthouse in the picture is the oldest on the East Coast. This island is called "Blackbeards Island". Blackbeard the pirate was reportedly killed on this island. This island was his "base" of operation! Ham radio op's swap these "post cards" as a way of verifying a contact between the 2 wireless stations. I have thousands of these cards from just about anywhere in the world. Places I'm sure you have never even heard of! What a COOL hobby! The "/NA67" refers to an award program based in Great Britain. They have assigned a number for just about every island in the world. The "NA" refers to North America, the "67" refers to their reference number for this particular island. I have been "hunting" the islands for 25 years & have close to 600 so far. WHAT A COOL HOBBY!
