Tucson
Warning Description: Fire Weather Warning

Warning Date: 8:38 am MST on May 13, 2008

WarningSum:...Red Flag Warning In Effect Until 7 Pm Mst This Evening...

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a red flag
warning...which is in effect until 7 PM MST this evening.
A strong low pressure system over northwest Arizona will drop
south and east through the state today. Winds will remain quite
strong and gusty ahead of this system. While this storm will
gradually bring increased low level moisture to the area...it will be
slowest moving into Santa Cruz and Cochise counties. As a
result...these areas are expected to have red flag conditions this
afternoon with winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph and
relative humidity values at or below 15 percent. As a result...a
red flag warning has been issued for southern and eastern fire
weather zone 148 including Cochise and Santa Cruz counties.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of the red flag warning today for portions of Southeast
Arizona.
