MetalFan's Slavior CD Review by Hans Van Pruissen...
Translation of the dutch MetalFan SLAVIOR CD review:
Slavior were signed by Inside Out, after the bankrupty of their initial record
company Black Lotus, and their debut cd will be released in March.
After interviewing Wayne Findlay (MSG, Vinnie Moore band), the band's guitarplayer,
i was curious about the cd.
Well, in what corner should we place this album? That's a tough one, because
like Wayne says in the interview, there is a lot of diversity in their music.
Attempting to place the music, i would say psychedelic metal with a touch
of Disturbed, a little funk like Living Colour and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
A fascinating combination, which makes it a bit hard to review this disc.
Gregg Analla's voice can be described as powerful yet mysterious, being the
lubricant that keeps the Slavior engine running throughout the cd.
Also powerful is Mark Zonder's drumming; his Fates Warning era already promised
us listeners dominant and powerful drumming.
Guitarplayer Wayne Findlay is a little less dominant in the mix (unfortunately);
Wayne has a different role in Slavior, providing Slaviors music with heavy riffs as basis for
the songmaterial, here and there shaking out a flashing guitarsolo, yet (again)
quite different than his work with MSG.
Most listeners will have to get used to Slavior, it takes time but settle down
and start the musical journey.
Opening track "Origin" was already known from Slavior's MySpace page; "Swept
away" will probably appeal to the fans of heavy rock, with a catchy rythm and some excellent guitarparts. "Altar"
sounds like influenced by Rush, followed by "Another Planet", probably the most versatile song on this debut.
My personal favorites are "Deeper" and "Slavior".
An intense cd, without a doubt! I feel Slavior has the potential to gain a
large audience for their music, and Inside Out won't have too much trouble to market the band throughout the world because
in this genre, this is outstanding. Now it's time for touring.........

SLAVIOR: All Access Magazine review...

There is
something very special about the brilliant self-titled debut release from the band called SLAVIOR. Gregg Analla (Tribe of
Gypsies/Seventhsign) on vocals, Mark Zonder (Fates Warning/Warlord) on drums, Wayne Findlay (M.S.G./Vinnie Moore) on guitars,
keyboards and bass. The quartet have created a musical masterpiece that is deep and emotional. The production is incredible,
the music crystal clear, crisp and tight. It's rare to find a release that has zero flaws, but this band is among one of the
best balanced, and most inspiring efforts I've heard in quite a long time. I could go on forever about how brilliant this
band is, but to truly understand, you must experience it for yourself. Like a fine wine or high end audio system only those
who listen carefully or those who know will be able to detect the sheer genius in the songwriting and the musicianship of
this band, a band called SLAVIOR. - The Atomic Chaser, The DRP/ All Access Magazine
