The Rites of King Neptune

Crossing the Equator aboard the USS Gillette

Upon completion of her eighth and final crossing of the Atlantic, the Gillette served briefly as a submarine training ship before heading to the Pacific. On May 22, 1945 her crew crossed the Equator near the Society Islands.

And so, in the tradition of the Sea, the "Polywogs" of the 'Fighting Blade' became "Trusty Shellbacks"!
