Shown here is Mr. Neil Smith, brave Gillette sailor, who was decorated for heroism while serving in the North Atlantic. After the tragic torpedo attack of the Leopoldville, Seaman Smith, at risk of life and limb, engaged in a personal attempt to save as many sailors as he could.
The "Mystery History" states that no Gillette Crewmen received any awards, yet these photos clearly indicate a decoration ceremony, so we have yet another mystery aboard the Gillette. |
