NEWSPAPER CLIPPING: MRS. GEO. SCHILLING -- Marcia Geradine Creger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Creger of Hardin Township, was born in Madison County, Iowa, July 9, 1896. In 1913 her family came to Greene County, and here, December 22, 1915, she was united in marriage to George Emerson Schilling. To this union were born two children, Ward, aged three, and Dean, aged two. A very brief illness resulted in the death of this wife and mother on March 20, 1920, her age at death being twenty-three years, eight months and eleven days. To mourn her departure she leaves her husband, two children, father and mother, one sister, Vivian, three brothers, Merle, Marvin, and John, and beside her family, an unusually large circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Horeb church Monday afternoon, March 22, by J. E. Habliston, pastor and interment was made at Jefferson. The very large concourse of folks from near and far which attended these services, making the largest funeral assemblage ever seen upon the Horeb church grounds, while it could not detract from the sadness of the occasion, at least testified to the esteem in which she was held. Pathetic in the extreme are the circumstances attending the departure of one normally at only the beginning of life. Some may remember her as the tireless and ambitious worker, others as the kindly neighbor, but all alike will remember her as a friend, 'loved and lost awhile' -- Her husband, parents and brother whose memories of her are the more intimate and scared ones of the home circle, have in this their day of sorrow the sympathies of an entire countyside. The cares of the home, and the coming of her children kept Mrs. Schilling from being in the services of the church as much as she wished. It comforts our hearts to recall the day when, in a Sunday School decision day service, she presented herself at the altar of the church, accepting Christ as Savior. Of that life with Christ upon which she has entered we know but little -- this we do know, that it is " very far better."
