NEWSPAPER: The Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, Thursday, January 18, 1900, p.1: "An Old Citizen Gone -- Mitchell Robinson was born in Virginia June 15th, 1811, and died at his home in Winterset, Iowa, January 9, 1900, aged 88 years, 6 months and 24 days. His last sickness was of thirteen days duration, being the disease known as capillary bronchitis. Mr. Robinson was twice married. His first wife in 1834. They had four children three of whom are dead. In 1843 he moved to Illinois, and in 1852 to Iowa, and settled in Madison county nine miles south of Winterset. After the death of his first wife, sometime in the year 1860 he married Elizibeth [sic] Cart who survives him. Mr. Robinson was a life-long christian and a faithful member of the Christian church till 1871 when he united with the Seventh Day Adventist church of which he remained a faithful and exemplary member till his death. He often called attention to the passage of scripture reading: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread". In all his dealings with men Mitchell Robinson was never knowm [sic] to take advantage in a trade. He never let his accounts go unpaid and he would himself suffer wrong rather than do his neighbors wrong. He often spoke of his hope to see the Savior come in the clouds of heaven to take his people home and be with the 144,000 who stand on Mount Zion with the lamb as spoken of in Revelations XIV. After a Short prayer at the house the remains were taken to the Adventist church, where words of comfort were spoken by Elder G. A. Larrison from Revelations XIV, 13-15, bringing to the mind the historic facts of the 12th, 13th, and 14th chapters of the same book, following the well known teachings of the church of which deceased had so long been a member. After the service at the church the remains were laid to rest in Winterset cemetery, to await the morning of the Resurrection."

NEWSPAPER: The Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, Friday, April 5, 1895, p.2: "Mr. Mitchell Robinson, of this city, paid this week for the Madisonian to January, 1896. He began with the first number of "The Iowa Pilot" in 1856, which afterwards became The Madisonian, and has taken every number since. His present payment will take him to within a few months of forty years. We are sorry to learn that Mr. Robinson's sight has failed him very badly of late. His wife's eyes must be depended on for any information obtained by reading. He is otherwise in apparently good health for one of his advanced years. May many years of peace and happiness and Godly example to family and friends yet be the lot of him and his noble companion."

NEWSPAPER: The Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, Thursday, January 18, 1900, p.5: "Mitchell Robinson, whose death occurred on the 9th, was one of the original subscicers [sic] to the Iowa Pilot, and his subscription to its successor, the Madisonian, was never allowed to lapse, having thus been a constant subscriber for forty-three years and fourteen weeks."
