Private graveside services will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Sympathy notes may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Mr. Beverlin was born June 8, 1930, in Eliza, the son of Cecil L. and Hester Puckett Beverlin. He married Shirley Church and they later divorced. He married Jayne A. Hafner on Nov. 16, 1984, in Iowa City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed bicycle riding, woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his wife; two sons, Jim Beverlin and wife, Jeri, and Wes Beverlin and wife, Sherry, both of Muscatine; a daughter, Kim Cavazos and husband, Gilbert, of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Brian and Chad Beverlin, Todd and Kelly Beverlin, Lucas Beverlin and Trea Cavazos; and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Parker Beverlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Reed; and a brother, Kenneth.

Weight: 212OBIT: Eugene Beverlin, Published: Saturday, March 27, 2004 2:00 AM CST, Eugene Beverlin, age 77, of Yankton, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Yankton with Dr. Jack Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791. Ray, Cantrell & Wintz Funeral Home, Yankton, is in charge of the arrangements. Gene was born April 6, 1926, in Aliza, Illinois, to Millard and Minnie (Cozad) Beverlin. He grew up in Muscatine, Iowa, where he joined the Army on May 23, 1944 and was discharged on March 6, 1947. Most of his army time was spent in Germany. On January 17, 1954, he married Lois Roberts; they lived in Oregon where he worked in the logging industry. After going to transmission school in Kansas City, Missouri, he worked as a mechanic for 13 years. He and his wife then managed motels for 27 years before retiring and moving to Yankton. He is survived by his wife Lois; daughter, Debra Havrilek; granddaughters: Kasandra Alder and Allison Havrilek; and great-grandson, Jordan Alder, all of Yankton; son, Wayne of Huston, Texas; sons Jerry and Mike, and daughter Tammy, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His parents, seven brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
