Obit: 29 Dec 2002, Winterset Madisonian; Bessie Berniece Beeler, 99, died of respiratory failure Dec. 16, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A former resident of the Truro/Peru area, she had resided at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset since January 1996. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 21, at Peru United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery, Walnut Township, Madison County. Bessie Beeler was born Nov. 8, 1903, in Madison County to Homer W. and Elsie Mae (Landis) See. She received her education in the Madison County country schools, graduating from Peru High School. On Feb. 21, 1923, she married Leo D. Beeler in Peru. Prior to her marriage, Bessie had worked for Shearer's General Store in Peru. She had resided on the family farm near Peru from the time of her marriage until moving to West Bridge. She was a member of the Peru Garden Club, Oak Run Community Church and Peru United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Harry; and a sister, Freda Burns. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Ward of Tampa Fla., and Donna Stegemann of Harrison, Ark.; a brother, Bill See of Peru; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be directed to Peru United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.

DONIPHAN--- Kline M. Beverlin of Route 1 died at 10:50 p.m. Thursday at the Doctors Hospital; Mr. Beverlin had been in the hospital for five months and had been ill for 18 months. The 68 -year-old retired laborer was born on Feb. 28, 1910, in Eliza Ill. He was member of the Baptist Church. On May 12, 1968, he married Goldie Cotton in Doniphan. Survivors are his widow; a son James Beverlin of Florida; a stepson, Hurbert Ezell of Poplar Bluff; two sisters Margaret Holern of Doniphan and Olive Fulkerson of Los Angelas; seven brothers, Emery Beverlin and Virgil Beverlin, both of Muscatine, Iowa, Willard Beverlin of Nobel Ark. Eugene Beverlin of Mullhead City Arz. Wayne Beverlin of Warren Mich., Paul Beverlin of Ferndale Mich. and Frank Beverlin of California and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Edwards Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Hunter Cemetery. The Rev. James Gore will officiate. Visitation is to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.
