Omer L. Beverlin, 78, Andalusia, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at home. Services and visitation were held Saturday at Larson Funeral Home, Milan. Burial was in Drury Reynolds Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Mercer County, son of Levi and Rose Smith Beverlin. He married Barbara L. Smith in Kahoka, Mo. Mr. Beverlin was the owner and operator of Beverlin's Standard in Andalusia for 15 years, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife; daughters, Dorothy Gehlken, Andalusia, and special friend, Bill Keith Jr., Taylor Ridge, and Nancy Gould and her husband, Bill, Taylor Ridge; granddaughters and spouses, Tammy and John Carlson, Andalusia, Laurie and Clint DeKeyrel and Wendy and Marc Buckrop, all of Taylor Ridge, and Ashley Loete, Illinois City; sister, Letha Hunter, Moscow, Iowa; brothers, Elden and Merle Beverlin, both of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara Beverlin, 78, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 in Rock Island. Services1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at Larson Funeral Home in Milan. Visitation two hours before the service. Memorials may be made to the family. Barbara was born May 3, 1925 on a farm near Williamsfield, the daughter of William and Maude Dimmick Smith. She married Omar Beverlin on Feb. 20, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. She owned and operated Andalusia Cafe. Prior to that she owned and operated Fuhr Turkey Farm and two other restaurants. Barbara was also the bookkeeper for Beverlin's Standard Station, which her husband owned for many years. Barbara was a member of Andalusia Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and taking care of children and cooking. She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Gehlken and her fiance: Bill Keith, Jr. of Taylor Ridge; and Nancy (Bill) Gould of Taylor Ridge; three great-granddaughters and their spouses; 18 great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson.BURIAL: Drury Reynolds Cemetery
