NEWSPAPER: The Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, Wednesday, November 22, 1939 p.1: "HENRY SEE OF PERU DIED LAST SATURDAY -- Pioneer Resident Succumbs Suddenly to Heart Attack -- Peru -- (Special) -- William Henry See, a pioneer resident of this community, died suddenly last Saturday at his home here of a heart attack. Mr. See had been down town that afternoon, but had complained to Elza Oglesbee, his neighbor, of a pain in the chest. Oglesbee advised him to go home and rest. That evening when Oglesbee came to deliver milk he found Mr. See had succumbed. Henry See was 84 years old at the time of his death. He was a native Iowan, being born in Des Moines county on Feb. 23, 1855, the son of John and Elizabeth See. On April 13, 1876, he was married to Florence Almyra Emerson at Leon. They made their home at Sharpsburg for about a year before coming to Peru, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mrs. See died three years ago. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Venecia Ruth of Winterset, Homer and Burl See of Peru, and Mrs. Mabel Ransom of Blairstown; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Brown of Longmount, Col.; two brothers, J. H. See of Osceola and C. E. See of Laurens; a half-brother, Madison Brown of Leeds; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday from the Peru Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. H. Machlen. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery. Pallbearers were the grandsons: Cheryl Ruth, John Stewart, Wendell See, William See, Robert Burns and Wilson Datwyler.

See, elderly resident of the Peru community, died at her home in that town last Saturday at the advanced age of 77 years. She had been an invalid since suffering a stroke two years ago. Mrs. See was the former Florence Almira Emerson, and was born September 11, 1858, in Wayne county, Indiana, the daughter of Winthrop Milton and Elizabeth Jane Emerson. At the age of two years she came with her parents to Iowa, locating on a farm in Madison county. On April 13, 1876, she was married to W. H. See, at the home of her parents, in Leon. They were the parents of four children, all of whom survive their mother. Mrs. See was a member of the Christian church. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Venecia Ruth of Winterset and Mrs. Mabel Ransom of Blairstown; two sons, Homer and Burl See of Peru; two brothers, N. B. Emerson of Glendale, California, and O. R. Emerson of Belleville, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Elias Jones and Mrs. Cora Cone of Long Beach, California, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Methodist church in Peru in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ in Winterset."
