RECIPES

Vegetarian cooking doesn't mean you're stuck eating just salads and pasta anymore. Check out some of these yummy recipes! Whether you give up meat or not, adding more vegetarian dishes to your diet is a delicious and healthy way to get your "5 a day".

  • Chickpea Curry (sans curry): From PETA's vegetarian starter kit. A curry dish with no curry in it! :) 4th recipe down on the right.
  • Raging Ratatouille: Page down to the 3rd recipe. These guys are a bit extreme, but this recipe is great. And it's entertaining to read the names of their other dishes.
  • Butternut Squash Soup: This recipe's been a hit with everyone I've made it for. Simple and very tasty.
  • Steamed Banana Cranberry Cake: coming soon, the link is currently broken
  • A Healthy Pantry: Nina Simonds list for a healthy pantry and describes the health benefits of each food. I found Nina through a special on Ch. 9 called "A Spoonful of Ginger: Food as Medicine."
You'll be surprised how "normal" these foods are. I liked Nina's opinion that in America we have been taught to be afraid of food, and that we should "rediscover the pleasures of eating". Hear, Hear. And her recipes are delicious!

BIO

book I graduated from DeAnza College in 1998, and went on to get my B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. I am taking this class for personal interest.

I enjoy interacting with nature, being outdoors, and cooking healthy food. I also enjoy my newest hobby, learning to dance.bearded

When not doing that, I'm probably hanging out at home with hubby and our menagerie; the kitties, the dragons, and the fish. Here's a pic of our bearded dragon babies, Puff & Merlin. Merlin's the one waving "hi y'all!".

HELP

  • Earthlink help
  • organization principles

    From the teacher:

  • HTML Reference created by the folks at Wired Digital Inc. (HotWired) that let's you "...brush up on all things HTML - from links to font tags to frames." They have lots of tutorials that you will find handy.

  • http://www.hotwired.com/webmonkey/reference/ Another student reports that there's the beginning of a great crib (note) sheet for reference during exams here. Remember, however, that you are allowed only one sheet of notes (front and back).

  • WebTechs HTML Validation Service The W3C is a major player in the design and standardization of HTML. This site not only verifies your code, but it has other valuable links. Use it when your code is not working to find out why.

  • NetMechanic Discovered by Marie Taylor-Harper, NetMechanic will check your entire site for bad html and also check your links.

  • Tidy HTML is a downloadable program that cleans up your act by reformating and correcting errors.

  • "The Web Worker's Toolbox" at Bentley College was called to my attention by a former CIS 89A student. It has some good stuff and not to my surprise was created by an English professor.
