Is there a decrepency between the message related in Daniel 5:25 and its explanation in Daniel 5:28, the former saying UPHARSIN and the later saying PERES?

Daniel 5:
25* And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN<06537>.
26* This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
27* TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
28* PERES<06537>; Thy kingdom is divided<06537>, and given to the Medes and Persians.

"Peres" is the root in "Upharsin". The apparent difference in English is explained by looking at the Hebrew and throwing in a mistranslation by "scholars".

The 'U' is a prefix meaning "and, but, since" etc. which depends on context and interpretation.

The last two letters, "IN", can be - and in this case I believe to be - a plural suffix.

The middle 'PHARS' in really composed of the same three letters as "PERES", the only difference is how a "scholar" decided to "point" the source text. The pointings are not in the orginial Hebrew but added very late Biblically, in copies made sometime after 700AD (approximately). Therefore the apparent difference is because "scholars", way after it was written decided to point it so.

I would interpret UPHARSIN to instead be UPERESIN, meaning something like: "and dividings" (Hebrew is a very symbolic language.

MENE - reckon
TEKEL - weigh
UPERESIN - and divide(plural)/dividings

Danial 6:1 confirms many divisions were made of the kingdom.

Daniel 6:
1* ¶ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

I therefore see no contradiction in these verses, any apparent contradiction being an artifact of its translation.
