Allison is 3 years old and just happens to have Cri Du Chat. She was diagnosed when she was 8 weeks old. You will be
able to see developmental information also on this website.
Allison was born on December 19, 2003. She came into the world via C-Section after a long non-progressive labor. She
was perfect. We had no idea how our lives would change.
In February, 2004 Allison was admitted to Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH which would prove to be one the hardest
experiences of our lives. There she underwent surgery to have a G-Tube and Fundoplication placed. She was not able to drink
anything due to total aspiration. She came home the first week in March, 2004.
Since that hospitalization, Allie has had 7 hospitalizations all for a variety of reasons. Although most of her severe
illnesses happened early in life, she does continue to get sick just like any other 3 year old. Overall, she has a very good
immune system.
Allie is the joy of our life. She will light up a room with her little giggle and smile! We are very lucky to have her
in our lives. Things are not always easy for Allie and sometimes what seems like easy tasks take longer, that's ok. She will
get there when she gets there. We try not to take each day for granted.

At 3 years Allie says the following words: mommy, mama, dada, milk, no, keys, ring, piggie, moo, ruff, more, Nate, play,
baby, blue, pink, red, green, burger, Allie.
At 3 years, Allie signs the following words: please, eat, drink, more, book, cookie, cracker, daddy, spider, peaches,
bath, elephant, play, tv, bird, baby, butterfly.
In addition to the above communication, she can identify most body parts. If you show her pictures of classmates, she
can accurately identify by pointing who they are.
Now for some of the not so good things: Allie does pinch and bite when she is either extremely tired or frustrated. Rarely
do we have much of a problem. We usually try to get Allie to pat instead of pinch! She does pull hair. Again, this happens
when she is really tired or can't tell you what she wants. She also does undress at night and we have to be careful about
what she wears to bed.
Allie is currently going to Hippotherapy (horse therapy), Speech and Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy. She also
sees a Geneticist, Gastroenterologist, Physical Medicine Doctor, and her Pediatrician.

What a job!
I might describe my job in a little more detail here. I'll write about what I do, what I like best about it, and even some
of the frustrations. (A job with frustrations? Hard to believe, huh?)
