The Walker Family
Kathy and Jeff Walker have played for traditional dances all over New York and New England for almost 25 years. Jeff
has been calling dances for the past 15 years. With their children adding a variety of musical instruments, they play
a mixture of music from the dance traditions of England, Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia, Quebec, Cape Breton, New England,
and Appalachia. In concert sets, the band performs songs and original arrangements of dance tune medleys.
Dancers and listeners have enjoyed their music at private parties, church socials, community days, public contradances,
and festivals including the Champlain Valley Folk Festival, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the Dance Flurry, the Summer Dance
Flurry, Northeast Music and Dance (NOMAD), and New England Folk Festival Association (NEFFA).
Some of the dances are hundreds of years old, some are recently composed, but Jeff's hallmark clear instructions and infectious
enthusiasm combine with the band's high-energy music to create an unforgettable evening of dancing just right for the level
of experience of the crowd.
