The Kiwanis motto is "Serving the Children of the World".

Founded in Detroit, Michigan, USA, in 1915 by a group of businessmen, Kiwanis International is headquartered in Indianapolis,

Indiana. Today, the entire Kiwanis family has more than 600,000 members in more than 13,000 clubs. Kiwanis clubs serve in more than 70 countries around the world and achieve what individuals cannot do alone.

The mission of Kiwanis is to provide assistance to the young and elderly, create international understanding and goodwill, and help meet community needs. Organized in 1940, the West Alexandria Kiwanis Club is in its 72nd year of operation.
