Regretfully, my family and I were not able to make it to
our 20th Class Reunion. My two boys, my wife, and I went to
Disney World where the boys high school played a football game.
Since, I graduated a year early I had a head start on my career and
creating a family. I spent 6 years in the Navy right after graduation. I
have worked for Raytheon Systems Company for 15 years and am currently
performing System Engineering work. I have been married to my wife
Stephanie for 20 years now. We have three great kids. Our daughter Amy is
almost 19 and a sophomore in college. Our son Curt Jr. is 17 and ready to
graduate high school this year. Our son Joe is almost 15 and a sophomore
in high school. We moved to Colorado 2.5 years ago and are loving it. If
you are in the Denver area, please look us up.

Sheila (Bellamy) Krout

Boulder City, NV 89005 |
So, where do I start? I always thought I'd be an old maid
since I never had a boyfriend in high school. Turns out, I married a guy
from Hueneme High right out of high school. That marriage produced a
wonderful son who is now a senior in high school. He says he's in the
movie business (works at Blockbuster). He drives an El Camino, and can't
believe we used to like those in "our day". I still remember
cruising main street in Ventura and the drag races in Oxnard!
I am now married to a wonderful man that I lived with for 10 years
(o.k., so I wanted to be sure this time). My 21 year old stepdaughter has
just given us a 2 month old grandson. Talk about bizarre, I'm too young to
be a grandma. After all, I still listen to Zeppelin, Kansas, Queen (real
music, as I tell my son). Oh no, we've turned into our parents! I finally
fullfilled my dream of teaching piano outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. I have
also been working on my family history, as my mom was a Holocaust
survivor. It took me 10 years, but I did find out she had a half brother.
Anyone interested, email me at smokey3932@aol.com
and I'll help you get started.
Peace to all and look us up if you would like the best prime rib (and
cheapest), in Nevada. May God bless you all, and I wish everyone true
happiness.

Jon & Cathi (O'Donnell) Bergh
(a class-couple!)
Camarillo, CA
jcb007@earthlink.net |
Jon & I have been married for 12 years & no,
we didn't know each other in high school. We were both in college
before we discovered we liked each other. Jon is a Captain for the Ventura
County Fire Department & works in Simi Valley. I have two jobs
so I guess we're TRINKS (triple-income no kids). I'm a real estate agent
for Fred Sands Mason-Churchill Realty in Camarillo. I'm also a Flight
Attendant for Alaska Airlines. Both jobs are fun for very different
reasons! Jon says I need 1 more job and he can retire! Our families still
live close by and we enjoy our 11 1/2 nieces & nephews. Our paternal
instincts( slim to none) are fulfilled by spoiling our 5-year old
chocolate lab, Shasta. Hobbies are skiing, sailing, scuba diving, camping
and of course traveling!

Grover City, CA
bewacker@thegrid.net |
After graduation I went into the military. After the service,
I went to school for a while. Applied to local Police Academy and
got accepted. Shortly thereafter, I was hired by Grover P.D.
Currently, I supervise a Patrol Watch and Special Enforcement Detail.
I'm married with two children, Mitch (age 9), and Shelby (age 7). My
hobbies include basketball, running, biking, and surfing (cowabunga).
A far cry for a skinny kid, with long hair, who enjoyed listening to Frank
Zappa. For those of you that knew my family, they are all doing very
well...

I have been married for 16 years to husband Mark. (We
met in college). We have two great children, Kristin (almost 13) and
Kyle 10.
We moved to the Seattle area 12 years ago. Mark has worked for
Microsoft for 11 years. I am a "stay at home mom" but
don't stay home very much. I spend a lot of time driving my kids
around to their various activities (like soccer, volleyball, piano
lessons, acting class, etc), volunteering at school, and sewing. My
latest activity is golf (I never realized how hard it would be).
Life has been really good! I am sorry that I couldn't make the
reunion, but would love to hear about what everyone is doing.

My wife Leticia and I will be celebrating our tenth year
wedding anniversary in October. We have 3 great kids Matthew, Kristina,
and Daniel who keep us very busy. We spend our Saturdays on the soccer
field where I coach Daniel's team and cheer for Matthew and Kristina.
During the week, I'm a family doctor. I did my undergraduate and medical
training at UCLA so I also spend my Saturdays rooting for my favorite
football team, the BRUINS. I now practice and live in Oxnard.

Okay, okay. I have been convinced that a 25-year
reunion is in order and it would be my pleasure to organize another one
for us. Probably something more informal. If anyone wants to
help, just let me know!
Since the reunion, my two boys, Matthew (5) and Andrew (2), have been
grateful to have their mom back without so many distractions, especially
the telephone. For those of you who tried to call me at any
other time than "quiet time," I apologize for the chaos in my
house. I have been married
for 13 years to my husband, Eric. With three males and me under one
roof, it often seems like I'm living in a boy's locker room!
[I've seen her house -- no locker room was ever that neat - Editor]
I hope to keep in touch with classmates through e-mail and look forward
to receiving everyone's suggestions for the next reunion

my families business in Camarillo and I take care of my mother also here
in town.

Doug MacPherson
11 Quiet Path Ct.
Pittsburg, CA, 94565
macpherd@inreach.com |
Doug MacPherson, (otherwise known as "EEEEEEW
DOUG!" by all of the females in his class), has not changed much
since high school. He still sports the long hair and non-conformist
attitude that endeared him to everyone. Married for 13 years to a
marvelous lady of Japanese descent (Fumiko), he has a 4-year old daughter
(Naomi) and a yet-to-be-determined unborn scheduled for April 2000.
A computer geek by profession, Doug whiles away his off hours playing with
his very expensive musical instruments in his home studio and playing
poker so he can afford to buy very expensive musical instruments...He also
takes every opportunity to be a nuisance to society. Would you have
expected any less?

Jeff Martin
Camarillo, CA
jmartin326@aol.com |
My wife Tami and I continue to live in lovely Camarillo with
our three lovely children, Brandon age 7, Tyler age 5 and my 18 month
daughter Morgan. Like most people in Camarillo with kids, Saturdays are
spent at Freedom Park cheering on the kids playing soccer. I coach one of
my sons teams during basketball season but so far have taken the soccer
season off. Not sure how much longer that will last as I am always the
loudest guy on the sidelines (a prerequisite as a coach). I work at Harman
Consumer Group for Infinity Speakers as the Marketing Product Manager and
my wife Tami is currently in nursing school. Spare time is rare, but when
I do get some I spend it with the kids (Indian Guides) or training and
competing with my German Shepherd dog in Schutzhund (K9 type training).
Please feel free to drop me a line...since I missed the reunion I would
love to hear from all of my Class of 79 friends.

live in north Oxnard. I am currently a cosmetology instructor at Lu Ross
Academy in Ventura, and Fred is a supervisory mechanical engineer with the
Naval Surface Warfare Center in Port Hueneme.
In our spare time, Fred and I enjoy gardening, travel, and
decorating. My hobbies are doing craftwork and collecting porcelain and
dolls. Fred's hobbies include model railroading, photography, and doing
projects around the house.

David Newton
La Jolla, CA |
David works at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD.
He is a computer programmer and spends about a month every two years out
at sea. This summer, he was in the Sea of Japan. Well, actually on it, not
in it.
He hasn't played his French horn in two or three years. He does have a
cool motorcycle though. That's it. Bye.

Dan Ord
Singapore |
Currently, I am working as Director of Consulting &
Training for a
teleservices company based in Singapore but with offices throughout SE
Asia.
As a result, I travel quite a bit. My main role is to educate and
advise clients on teleservice activities for their business, as well as
provide training to their staffs on everything from Customer Service to
selling techniques. I'm quite happy with this as to some degree I am
my own boss, source my own clients, handle my own affairs. Being
teamed up with the company opens more doors for business.
Asia is ripe for this kind of business and most of the multi-national
firms
such as American Express and Microsoft have already moved into this arena
(in fact, they are clients).
Finally, on the personal side, I moved here with my partner of 11 years
who works in the software industry...he and I loved living in LA for
almost 10 years but when the opportunity came to move on we both jumped at
it. My folks are still in Camarillo, same house and its fun to visit
them - although I probably won't make it back till next year. My Mom
is actually coming out here in a couple of weeks to stay for about 1 month
which will be great.

Connie (Ostlund) Varvais
Placerville, CA |
Married 19 years to Dan Varvais. Got busy with a family
right away - we have two boys (Jon, 17, a senior. Matt, 15, a sophomore).
Teenagers are great....never a dull moment! They keep me busy with their
social activities and house full of friends. We live near Placerville, CA,
in the Sierra foothills. We have 54 acres on the Cosumnes River where we
enjoy outdoor activities and never ending home projects! Both Dan and
myself work for a manufacturer of acrylic roofing systems, National
Coatings Corporation, based in Camarillo. In our spare time we enjoy fly
fishing, hiking and travel. The boys snow board during the winter months;
I prefer snow shoes!

Michael Sanchez
Oxnard, CA
mfs@la-arch.com |
My family and I live in Oxnard and are doing just
fine. We consist of my wife Sue, my eleven yr. old daughter Danielle
and my four year old daughter Kimberlin.
I am the Senior Planner for a local architectural firm, Lauterbach
& Associates. You who live in Oxnard, and those who watch the
local City Council and Planning Commission hearings, have seen me many
times present numerous award winning projects to the city. Many of my
projects are being constructed right now. A hint of some projects .
. . the Financial Plaza where the old Bobby McGee's restaurant used to
be. Just a bit proud of that one.
My wife is a Home Mom, and is finishing up her teachers certificate to
be a "Master Teacher" status when she is finished with the
program.

Steve Secara
Hollister, CA
Secara@CSD.com |
I graduated in 87 from Fresno State with a Master's in
Analytical Chemistry. I got married shortly there after and stayed that
way for almost 9 years. The best part of the married life is my 6 year old
daughter, Chelsea who lives with me half time.
I am working for Pratt & Whitney, Space Propulsion Operations,
Chemical Systems Division as laboratory director of the Environmental
Quality Laboratory. (Yes that means that I AM a rocket scientist!)
In my copious free time (yeah right) I enjoy horseback riding, model
trains, reading and camping.
Since my folks still live in Camarillo, I get down there several times
a year and have been amazed at its growth over the 20 years. I am
really hoping that when we get together at the reunion, we will all have
grown less than Camarillo has grown over the years.

Jean (Shubert) Sample
Visalia, CA
nenewhy@lightspeed.net |
I graduated from San Diego State in 1985 with a BA in
Liberal Studies. I had various jobs from retail, drywall and framing, to a
trainer in a gym. I went back to school in 1991 and I'm now the chief
Ultrasonographer at Visalia Medical Clinic between Bakersfield and Fresno.
I plan to go back for my masters soon. I married Bill Sample in 1995 and
we have a beautiful 2 yr old daughter Victoria. I also took a peek last
week and discovered that I'm about 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with our 2nd
child. Oh the beauty of ultrasound! I hope for a girl and Bill hopes for a
boy. I should be able to tell in about 7 weeks!

Kathy (Smith) Quantock
Camarillo, CA
|
I still live in Camarillo! Married with 3 children,
Tim - Age 11, Ben - Age 5, and Megan - Age 3. Married a Rio Mesa
grad, Rick Quantock. We both lived in Camarillo most of our lives
and our paths never crossed until we were 28 and 30!
I am the Human Resources/Industrial Health & Safety Supervisor
for Lander Co. in Camarillo. Lander is a manufacturer of Health and
Beauty Care Products.
Since we had kids, I've forgotten what my hobbies are, but I do manage to
play co-ed softball with my husband, indoor soccer with the girls, and a
little gardening and cross stitching. (She's way ahead of me - Editor)

Wendy (Sobisky) Lee
Reseda, CA |
I have set up shop in Reseda selling American Indian art. I
feel, after that history class I had at Camarillo High School, that it
effected me in such away that I want to give back to the
American Indians by buying their art and selling such to the public that
it helps in supporting my cause and in turn it helps to support me.
The moccasins from the 70's don't compare to the ones that I offer. The
items that are selling on my site are all made by the First Americans or
in factories (yes, they've come a long way) who employ American Indian
craftspeople. There are two sites to choose from:
I was the shy one with long dark hair in high
school who didn't think she had a future, but now I do. Please check out
my bio when you have the chance.
I'm not single, but not married either. The relationship is fine the
way it is and why fix it if it aint broke:) Bobby and I have been
together for 4-yrs and he's one hell of a golfer, pool shark too! My last
marriage, well, OK I was too young to know any better. Two years from
the day I graduated. I thank the guy upstairs that I didn't have children
to worry about from that. There is more, but I'll leave this alone so poor
Barry can include this in [Thanks Wendy! - Ed.].
I love everyone and was very happy to see most of you who made it to
the 20 year ACHS 79 reunion (as I couldn't be found for the 10 year).
I thought it was well created for everyone and I thank those so much who
put it all together. I hope that we may have a 25 or 30 year that is just
as good and that we may see those who we've missed from the recent 20
year.
Love always from a true Scorpio, Wendy

Lori (Snider) Boyster
Lake Arrowhead, CA |
After high school, Sheri Haggle and I moved to San Luis
Obispo to try out our new wings, but every weekend came back to Camarillo.
We missed our friends and families too much. In 1981, I graduated from
Ventura College with a degree in psychiatric technology. During school, I
worked at Camarillo State Hospital and stayed there till they closed the
doors in 1997. In 1991, I met my husband Griff at my sister’s wedding
and in 1993 we were married. We tried moving to Grand Junction, Colorado,
where my family has all migrated to but eventually came back to Camarillo.
We have a great 6-year-old son Beau that we just love. We now live in Lake
Arrowhead, CA, spending most of our free time at the ice skating rink
where Beau plays hockey. So I’m a hockey mom.... I still am working, now
at Arrowhead Behavioral Health in the emergency room. My life is full and
busy. I still have my great friends, my best friends ... Sher and Pam. The
reunion was a blast.

Cindy (Tolman) Howard McKinney,TX

I have been married for 15 years and in Texas for 12. I have
5 children ages 14 to 2.(3 girls and 2 boys). I received a Bachelors
degree in Nursing in 85 and have worked part time while raising a family
ever since. My husband Randy is a native Texan and is currently in the
telecom business though he is a writer at heart. My spare time is spent
coaching soccer, playing with cub scouts, taxiing children to sports, music
lessons, etc., and trying to figure out what to make for dinner.

To see what my clan and I are up to, check out our Web
site. This page is part of our site. There are so many people I hope to see at the
reunion. The email conversations I've been having with people have shown me how much we
have in common -- even with people we didn't know in 1979! Pretty scary.
