South West Seattle BPW
Spring has officially arrived and started off well with the District Spring Conference on March 24. State President Carolyn
Leeper attended as the State official visitor and installing officer of the 2007-08 district officers. SouthWest Seattle’s
ten members and guests who attended the District 2 meeting cheered on members Bobbie Healy and Nancy Sorensen who were installed
as the 2007-2008 District Director and District Secretary, respectively. Congratulations Bobbie and Nancy!
We learned there will be lots of items for discussion at the state conference, May 18-20 in Seattle. Items mentioned include
a proposed bylaws change to remove districts, an updating of the finance rules, and the possibility of presenting a bid to
BPW/USA for the 2010 National Conference. State President Carolyn also reported that national is considering restructuring.
There will be more information about this in the next issue of the WBW (Washington Business Woman).
SouthWest Seattle BPW is also looking to the future and now is the time to consider being a member of the team that leads
this local forward. If you would like to be a member of the 2007-2008 team let me know. Positions available: President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer, Nominations Chair. See you at the April 12 meeting at Angelo’s, Burien.

District Two Meeting
District 2
Director’s Message
District 2 BPW began our year with a planning meeting in August. Our theme for the year is "Let’s Get
Cooking", both literally and figuratively. Our Fall Conference, "Spice Up Your Life – Beyond Salt and Pepper", was
September 30, 2006. We featured Carol Dearth, Master Chef and Co-Owner of RainCity Cooking School. She gave us a hands-on
presentation about spices and fresh herbs, when and what to use and how to store them. I’m sure we all learned a great
deal from her presentation. Our fundraisers included an accessories silent auction and a dessert live auction.
Our Spring Conference, will feature our YC presentation and IDP presentation as well as a unique installation
of 2007-2008 Officers. The nominating chair, Marjory Scott, has put together a slate of officers as follows: Bobbie Healy,
District Director, Dolores Gohndrone, Assistant District Director, Nancy Sorensen, Secretary and Sue Suwiwattanakul, Treasurer.
Marjory is still seeking a Nominations Chair, so please contact her if you are willing to take on this task.
We will also have a live dessert auction at Spring Conference and request that each local bring 4 desserts
to be auctioned off.
And last but most importantly, I want to thank you all for your support for me as District Director. I was
promised that when I took on this position, I would have all of your support . . . and you have not let me down in your commitment
to District 2. Together we have made this a wonderful year for our district. We were the first to adopt a standing rule which
allows us to take a vote district-wide by email. Next year, I foresee that other issues for the district will be accomplished,
with your help and cooperation.
Spring is a wonderful time of rebirth and starting anew. Let’s enable our new leadership team to have
a wonderful year ahead with our continued support for them and all of District 2 BPW.
Thanks once again for a great year! Sue Suwiwattanakul, Dis 2 Director
