Comedy of Terrors

Siskel & Ebert have given high praise to no fewer than two (2) monster flicks with 5-letter titles ending in "ic", namely "(The) Relic" and "Mimic". Do you know what this means? Neither do I. But it does suggest the distinct possibility that Hollywood, in typical fashion, will try to capitalize on this apparent trend and start giving other 5-letter "-ic" names to films in the creature-feature genre, hoping Siskel & Ebert will fall for it.

Hence the following examples:

Aspic
A slimy creature impresses people with its exquisite culinary talent.
Then, of course, it eats them alive.
Colic
A slimy creature bursts out of people's stomachs - a la Alien - thereby inducing sharp abdominal pains, to say the least.
Comic
A giant mutant comedian-freak tells lousy jokes, then stomps people
when they don't laugh.
Cubic
A mad scientist named Rubik creates a sinister cube. You don't play
with this cube. . . .it plays with YOU!!!
Cynic
A monster won't eat people because it thinks that's just what they want him to do.
Logic
A really ticked-off Vulcan, a friend of Spock's, goes on a rampage. His shrink tells him it's got everything to do with his unacceptance of his human half.
Magic
A ventriloquist's demonic dummy makes him. . . Oh, wait! That's been done.
Medic
An M.D. (Mutant Doctor) cures his patients in a permanent way!
(Originally titled "Kevorkian", but some people, understandably, objected.)
Music
Same as "Comic", except here a singer-freak don't sing too well.
"Music II: Lyric"...coming soon to a theatre near you! Stay home.
Panic
People are really scared. Why? There's a monster!!!
Pubic
Really, we needn't say more.
'Tanic
The story has been told so many times in so many ways that Hollywood has
decided to freshen it up by shortening the title.
Oh, yes...And also, the remains of the sunken ship have mutated into a gigantic monster that's attacking New York now.
Topic
Daytime talk-show host gets a little too big, mistakes audience for munchies,
gets canceled. Geraldo jumps on the story.
Tunic
Sequel to "History of the World, Part I";
Dom Deluise reprises his role, only this time. . . you guessed it, he's a mutant!!

Other possibilities:
"Manic", "Attic", "Folic", "Genic", "Ethic", "Runic", "Xenic", "Osmic", "Sonic", "Rabic",
"Pyric", "Ionic", "Vatic", "Stoic", "Civic", "Azoic", and on and on...

So come on, Hollywood, you old Relic, start Mimicking.

"Very, very funny."
