~~MMPORGS~~
City of Heroes/Villains (COH/COV)
is A superhero mmporg with excellent character customization,
good questing & teaming systems, the trade skilling needs some balancing.
But the game has more role-play than most MMOs.
It also has a great tutorial, tip in the tutorial try to kill 100 of the
infected before finishing office quest, and choosing a starting city.
They have a thing called badges that you can collect for exploration,
kills, quests, and more.
Lord of the Rings Online(LOTRO)
Lord of the Rings online based on a popular set of books by JRR Tolkien
The world is very similar to WOW at first. However Lotro takes advantage
of newer technology, and has features like being able to physically carry pies.
The trade skills are in sets this give less freedom however It also created more of
a market for craft goods. the expansion rate is much faster than WOW because
they are still new. This can lead to bugs but also creates a more exciting dynamic
environment. The economy is always being tweaked and adjusted also a mixed blessing.
they added some things found in other games like badges these promote exploration
and make you feel like your progressing stuff while not doing quests.

Neocron
is a fast paced MMPORG set in a possible Earth future. Unique in a lot of aspects
this game plays in a classic FPS aka "First Person Shooter" style.
But unlike Quake and Doom There are non combat ways to make money
AND experience. The downside is a clunky UI, Low population, crummy graphics, and
nearly no major changes in years
The Sims2
The sims2 has more of a leveling feel than classic Sims, the addition of generations
and mini games make these games feel more RPG like. But the customization of Sims will
always set it apart from any online game. There is also The Sims Online
Is a Mmporg Based on SIMS. They took a lot of the Sims natural
Charms away while trying to make it more level based and it may have been better done with SIMS2 mini-game style.
World of Warcraft(WOW)
is set in a Fantasy based world similar to D&D. It has good trade skills,
varied quests, efficent grouping. Varied races and classes.
a solid level based system and a beautiful highly immersive areas.
The main feel and balence is very stable and consistant even when new stuff is added
this can result in the game feeling a bit stagnant after a lot of play.
However it does have millions of users.

~~Low Graphic with No downloads~~
DragonFable
is a one player game the basic game is free.
It makes its money with "Optional" pay services you can pay for a special kind of game money
And to get into special areas. Therefore there is minimal unrelated advertizing. There is still
some but its mostly related to the dragon fable's developing companies other games.
Neopets
Is a addictive game combining the best qualities of Pokémon, virtual pets, rpgs, multiuser communities, gambling, a Disneyland environment, and various favorite video games.
It's spam content is minimal. And it's VERY good for kids and teens as well as fun for adults.
its only downside is it has a HUGE user concentration making bargain hunting a bit tricky. And shops get sold out fast
Zetapets
This is a neopet rip-off basically. It has a lot of lag.. Not many games
a quirky interface but hey it can only get better. It does have promise. its aimed at a slightly older age group
Thus pets are less CUTE. And pets start off as infants and grow. Bargain hunters can take advantage of a tiny population.
As things are less likely to be sniped away as you are bargain.

StarKingdoms
is a multiplayer and simple to learn online game, It is free to my knowledge.
and its best to come in when it resets since everyone gets to start together. However coming in
mid game is a good way to learn the ropes formulate a strategy and make contacts.
Its main drawback is Popup Ads and lull times between resets.
It is almost like a no graphic Civilization.
Vagabond's Quest
is another low graphic game with no downloads. But this is more of a D&D Style. It has java and html Combat arenas as well as a virtual dungeon and shops . But also pops Ads up on your desktop.
Laser a simplistic puzzle game were you angle mirrors to redirect a laser. its addicting.

~~Text Based Games~~
Muds are the king of text games they are text based universe with npc monsters and quests. Zmud is a program that runs Muds and gives extra perks. You can also play Muds free using windows telnet program if you know the address of the mud. The Mud Connector is a web page that lists Muds and will auto connect to them via telnet.
two of my favorite Muds are Genesis a Fantasy heavy RPG mud and Starmud a Goofy sci-fi hack n slash
IRC
is a great place to role play if you know the channel. #Blkdragon*Inn is one of the more popular freeform rpg channels for me it was always the best i played on quite a few other rpg channels but most the other ones vanished
Javachats are text based games often run off of websites
often moderated by "GM" aka "Game Masters" they are very simplistic and often are free with no
downloads required. However they also tend to be very small, cliquish, and can be rather borring
if there are only a few people on. the upside is it can feel more like a table top rpg than all
the other options.
