2003 STATE PROJECTS
CHILDREN OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
As you scroll through the different pins which mark the state project or the state itself you will see many very fine projects, which have helped many people. It is hoped that those who read the projects below will appreciate the time and effort which has been expended by the CAR members themselves and the many DAR / SAR and other FRIENDS AND FAMILY who have made this a great experience for the youth of our country to show their Patriotism to the community in which they live.
There are some states that do not have a state pin; there are some states, which do not have a state CAR Society. There are a lot of opportunities to be part of our youth.
If you are interested in helping with the CAR and their many projects make contact with them. If you cannot contact them then you can always contact me and I will pass your interest to them.
I salute the many members of the CAR, DAR, SAR and friends and family who have made this all possible. It has been a pleasure to collect these pins. If your pin is not shown on these pages then I do not have one of your state. Since this is an on going project please contact me.
IN THE SPIRIT OF OUR FOREFATHERS.

VIRGINIA
As far as our state project this year, Virginia has decided to assist the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia a project of theirs. The Frontier Culture Museum is a living history museum that shows life for immigrants both before and after their migration to American (specifically the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia) (find more on the Museum here http://www.frontiermuseum.org/) The Museum has recently acquired the "Bowman Farm" a house built by German immigrants in the Shenandoah Valley in the early 18th century. The Museum will use the farm to interpret life in the Shenandoah Valley in the 1770's. V.S.C.A.R. has decided to help fund the purchase of furnishings for the kitchen of the house. Our fund raising has surpassed even my own expectations and we are really looking forward to what the total well be.
Sincerely,

TEXAS
The Texas President's State Project Pin for this year is our "San Jacinto" pin - Funds generated from sales are being used for a bronze plaque to be placed at the edge of the San Jacinto Battleground marshland (near Houston) to honor the patriots who gave their lives in the battle for Texas Independence on April 21, 1836. Recent excavations have revealed skeletal remains of those who perished in the marshland area and were never given a proper burial. An ecumenical mass was held in November to bless the area. We hope to erect the plaque during our State Conference at the end of March 2003.
