·         Establish the current conditions of resources affected by air pollution.

·         Create trends which allow us to know if management actions to address air pollution are effective.

·         Provide insight and education to citizens.

·         Aid in compliance with laws, including the Clean Air Act.

·         Encourage states to require cleaner technology for sources of air pollution close to National Forests, such as smelters, power plants, and refineries.

  • Give valuable information to forest planners who make recommendations about how the National Forests will be best managed.
