Scientific data collected by the
Forest Service Air Program
  • Establish the current condition of resources affected by air pollution, prompting management actions to reduce emissions if necessary
  • Create air pollution trend analysis to better inform management effectiveness
  • Provide insight and education to citizens
  • Aid in compliance with law, especially the Clean Air Act
  • Encourage states to require cleaner technology for air pollution sources near your forest, such as power plants, smelters, and refineries
  • Provide valuable information to forest planners who make recomendations about how our National Forests will be better managed
