Resume
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am applying for the Retail Management Training Program offered by Peoples Bank. Most of my work experience has included managerial aspects. I have learned to multi-task, to work with a team or independently, to be proactive about any project on which I am working, and to delegate when necessary.
I am currently studying for the first two actuarial exams, to be given on May 19 and 20, 2004. Studying for these requires a substantial amount of self-motivation, as well as the hunger to continue learning.
I graduated from Vassar College in May 2002 with General Honors. While majoring in Economics, I also took advantage of Vassar's range of options, exploring everything from quantum physics, through music theory, past technical theatre, and into computer science and web design. I also worked as a Student Fellow (Residence Advisor) in my sophomore year, as the Office Assistant in the Drama Department, and as the Technical Director and Stage Manager of the Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre. In my senior year, I completed the work for my thesis, entitled, "The Effects of Rural Electrification on Dairy Farming in the Tennessee Valley."
My work experience since graduation has been varied. I currently work as a long term temporary employee for The Governor's Prevention Partnership. I started as an administrative assistant and have since changed departments to work as the Interim Training and Events Coordinator. My previous employment with Island Transport, Inc., grew out of a summer job into a salaried position that covered everything from working with payroll data in Excel to fleet maintenance to rowing across Edgartown Harbor in order to drive a regular school bus route. Both positions have required flexibility, communication, multi-tasking, and the ability to coordinate with other people.
I hope that balancing my desire to continue learning with the need for practical experience will allow me to work to my fullest ability.
Many regards,
Anna-Liza Villard-Howe
