Joe Colley / Mike Shiflet: Meaning 7"

A split 7" by two charming gentlemen of sound. Somewhat by chance I played Joe's side first, and my space was suddenly filled with irregular chirps, sputters, and groans, as if Joe were trying to channel deformed "ghost" recordings from some dusty minidisc recorder that was of the mind not to let go of its secrets without a fight. The end result is a controlled sputterance, an audio tug of war between man and machine. Clocks out with a nice lock groove, which is why I mentioned playing his side first, because the lock groove led nicely into Shiflet's side. His side was a lot more active; pulsating chicken wire fences blowing into some electrical tower stationed along an old military bunker in France. Shiflet's side also winds out with a lock groove whose seam was near flawless, making for extremely wonderful extended listening. Get this before your tears flow.
