American
Cancer Society -- This was one that I found to be very
helpful. Straight, useful information.
American
Red Cross -- You sort of forget about them until disaster strikes. They do great work around the world, including some things you
probably don't know about.
American
Sleep Apnea Association -- Non-profit organization dedicated to
educating people about sleep apnea, a condition that ground my life to a halt
before a sharp doctor diagnosed my problem. Many people who have it don't
know it.
How
Stuff Works -- Exactly what it says. You name it, they probably
have an article explaining it. Loads of information, and fun, too.
HysterSisters --
A woman-to-woman support site for women who are facing or recovering from a
hysterectomy. This was extremely helpful to my wife. Outstanding
site.
National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children -- I sincerely hope that you will never need
this site's services. We did, and they were there. They helped me to
get my child home safely, and I am eternally grateful. Please click
here to see a list of missing children from my home state of North
Carolina. Have you seen these children?
National
Runaway Switchboard -- This site helped us, too, and I am
equally grateful to them.
Special
Olympics -- Once you are involved, you will be changed for the
better. I was.
Yellow
Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program -- Geared toward teens.
Lots of help and resources available.
