About Me
9/11/2001

"September 11, 2001.  You will remember this day for the rest of your life."  Those words, spoken by news anchor Dan Rather, opened the CBS Evening News on what had started out as a beautiful autumn day with clear blue skies.  It was, perhaps, the understatement of the year.

The number of people who died in these senseless acts of terrorism stands at 3,025 -- 2,801 at the World Trade Center, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  (Source for statistics: ABC News.)  I have seen these events bring out the best -- and the worst -- in people around the world.  Let us continue to look for the best.

September 11, 2001. Never forget.

"As I understand it, all these people are dead because of religion.  And if you live to be a thousand years old, will that ever make any sense?"

David Letterman
