Angels a la Mode

Two frozen pie crusts, thawed
Baking Apples
Sugar
Cinnamon
Cookie Cutters: Angel, Star, Heart
Fresh Nutmeg
A four cup "corning glass" cooking pot with lid

Core and peel the apples and slice them up into bite size pieces. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste. Put them into the glass cooking pot, along with about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of water. Cook this in the microwave, on high, until it is the consistency of piefilling; the pieces are soft but still remain pieces and there is a syrup holding the mix together.

While this is cooking, take the thawed piecrusts and cut an angel out for each planned serving. Cut the rest of the flat portion of the crusts out in hearts and stars. Trim the leftover fluted edges into arcs about three inches long. Bake all of this on a flat cookie sheet, according to the piecrust instructions, until golden brown.

Spoon the hot apple filling onto plates and pour the fresh whipping cream over them until it reaches the plate. Grate fresh nutmeg over this. Stand an angel in the apples and lay a heart, star and arc alongside on the plate. Serve with a side of sharp cheddar.
