DeLuxe Records was an offshoot of King Records one of the most prolific of all the R & B independent labels. The company was headed by Syd Nathan and located in Cincinnati, Ohio. DeLuxe was first used in the mid forties then replaced by Queen, and then Rockin'. The company went back to the DeLuxe name in 1952 and became a major player in the surge of Rhythm & Blues into the popular mainstream of American music. In late 1955, Henry Stone parted ways with DeLuxe and started Chart Records in Miami bringing in The Charms (but not Otis Williams to his new label. Otis and DeLuxe could not call the group The Charms at first, thus the "New Group" designation.
