My Latest Rant!

07/01/2004
Here is the latest bothering my mind: Freedom of Speech. By now, most everyone has heard about Howard Stern and his problems. It is precisely the right of free speech that keeps movies better than television and radio. The movies are not controlled by some government agency with a hidden agenda (obvious to all who think for themselves). While the government controls the airways, via the FCC, they control what we hear and see. That is wrong. Among intelligent people, all capable of deciding what to listen to, watch, and controlling their children, Big Brother is not necessary. The government does not have the right to bring into question one's patriotism when disagreeing with archaic principles and policies. The beauty of the film industry is that we, yes we, choose what we want to watch, not any government official trying to reserve a good seat in heaven! Why can't we chose that for ourselves with television or radio? Because these small minded politicians claim to know what's best for us!
I show my patriotism by voting every chance I get, I suggest you do the same. If you are old enough to vote, by all means, register and exercise your right to vote. I think it is crucial for everyone to do this regardless of the country in which you reside, but especially for Americans. We are sometimes too apathetic.
Remember, if we are not vigilant the only film released may be The Cross and the Switchblade!
