Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry James Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore, Maggie Smith as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape, Warwick Davis as Professor Filius Flitwick, Sean Biggerstaff as Oliver Wood, Shirley Henderson as Moaning Myrtle, Miriam Margolyes as Professor Sprout, Alfred Burke as Headmaster Armando Dippet, Sally Mortemore as Madam Irma Pince, David Bradley as Groundskeeper Argus Filch and of course, Toby Jones as the voice of Dobby the House Elf.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second in the Harry Potter series. Once again it is the beginning of a school year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is year two. Prior to his departure Harry is visited by Dobby, an elf from another wizard. His purpose is to convince Harry not to return to Hogwart's. Of course, through some difficulty, Harry returns to Hogwart's.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a very well made film. The special effects are not noticeable because they are so good. We are catapulted into a world where wizardry is common place. There is not much to question as the film introduces us to other parts of this world that are totally unexpected.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is conceptually a retread of the first plot. However, it is done well enough so that we don't notice. The film drags in several places, but then makes up for it. All in all it is a very good film. A must see for children and dreamers.
I give it 4 out of 5 cameras:
