The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Identity stars Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, Franka Potente as Marie Kreutz, Clive Owen as The Professor, Chris Cooper as Ted Conklin, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Nykwana Wombosi, Julia Stiles as Nicolette, Brian Cox as Ward Abbott, and Anthony Green as Security Chief Richard Hampton.

The Bourne Identity is a big screen production of a previously made for TV movie starring Richard Chamberlain. This version is more 007 like, but lacks the punch of most spy thrillers. The Bourne Identity is a suspense/action film. Our hero, Jason Bourne is pulled out of the Mediterranean Sea by fishermen in a storm. Jason has amnesia. He cannot remember who he is and where he lives and what he is doing there.

The Bourne Identity is Jason's journey in finding out who he is, what he is doing, where he lives, and where he works. His reflexes, however, do not have amnesia. He can perform at every level, except to recall his personal life.

The Bourne Identity fails on many points. The action is similar to every film ever filmed in France, French Connection, French Connection II, etc. The film is very predictable, as we have seen this plot several times before. The car chase is less than spectacular, as small European cars are employed. Who ever heard of out-running anyone in a mini? While watching this film I was also reminded of other films like Day of the Jackal and Three Days of the Condor. Actually the storyline, is a cross between Day of the Jackal and Three Days of the Condor.

I give it 2 out of 5 sea bags:
