Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ronald 'Ron' Weasley, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy, John Cleese as Sir Nicholas De Mimsy-Porpington (aka Nearly Headless Nick), Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid, Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick, Richard Griffiths as Uncle Vernon Dursley, Richard Harris as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Ian Hart as Professor Quirrell, John Hurt as Mr. Ollivander, Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape, Fiona Shaw as Aunt Petunia Dursley, Maggie Smith as Professor/Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall, Julie Walters as Mrs. Molly Weasley, Zoë Wanamaker as Madame Hooch.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a film that follows Harry Potter as a first year student in Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry Potter is an adaptation of J. K. Rowling's book Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. The film is well made and the special effects are so great these days that we don't see them for special effects anymore. They are expected. Since this is a story of wizardry and witchcraft we believe all that we see and hear. That is how good the presentation of this film is. To say more would ruin the story for those, like me, who knew nothing of the story.

Harry Potter is well acted. Richard Harris is a little overly dramatic, but the casting is great. From a wee person I did get the impression that Draco Malfoy should have darker hair, but that his character was well acted. It is a long movie, two and a half hours. It starts slowly, but that is to lay the ground work for the characters. However, that did not bore the audience into being noisy. No, the children remained captivated throughout the film, very quiet. Be prepared for receiving a new vocabulary.

I give it 4 out of 5 scars for Kids:

I give it 3 out of 5 letters for Muggles:
