The Upper Rogue Community Center, Inc. was incorporated in 1981. Some forward-thinking residents of the Upper Rogue area came together to develop a facility that could be used by all. There was a need for a location for community members to come together. Through generous private donations of cash, materials and manpower, the Community Center was built.

The Upper Rogue Community Center arose out of the community need for a local organization that could serve an area that is more than 20 miles from most services. The Center began life as the result of community action and those roots still guide the organization today, with an active membership who continues to shape and guide the vision and purpose of the Center.

The Center also provides a place for many community activities, like community meetings, dances, government functions like municipal court, and as a place where the community can have forums, workshops and classes that might not otherwise be offered in the area. As an article in a local newspaper, the Mail Tribune put it: "It gives people who don't have the desire or time to take part in other city activities a way to become involved in the community. It provides a crossroads for members of city groups to exchange ideas. It gives people an opportunity to focus on the larger, more comprehensive questions of community concern."

To attract, initiate and maintain services and activities to benefit people of the Upper Rogue.

The Center has become a focal point for the Upper Rogue area. It provides senior and youth activities, emergency assistance, and transportation for seniors and disabled, referral services and operates a thrift store.
