Constitutent Universities or Autonomous Units
Brief History
The University of the Philippines was established in 1908 through Act No. 1870, otherwise known as the University
Charter, by the First Philippine Legislature. It specified the function of the University (soon defined as a "system"), which
is to provide advanced instruction in literature, philosophy, the sciences, and arts, and to give professional and technical
training.
Constituent Universities
As of the moment, the UP System has seven (7) autonomous units:
- UP Diliman
- UP Manila
- UP Los Baños
- UP Baguio
- UP Visayas
- UP Mindanao
- UP Open University
Note: The above arrangement implies no particular order.
