Volume VII Number 3, December 1999-January 2000

As a noted general (GI Joe, to be exact) once said, “knowing is half the battle.” This is especially true in our generation, when information is considered to be the most important tool. Knowledge power has never been more in demand. In fact, information is now deemed as a commodity, and the more one has of it, the more one acquires an edge in today’s world.

Enter the Internet. Since its conception in the mid-1960s, where it started as an information posting board for the US military, it has become more and more popular as people all over the world now utilize its myriad of capabilities. Today, it is considered the best source of information because it offers such conveniences as accessibility and relative ease of use.

In tapping this technology, the UP Manila ROTC, through its press arm, Cadence, recently created and launched its very own website. Basically, the website is an online version of the Cadence newsletter, plus links to back issues. It also contains a guest book, wehre users can sign their names and input their comments on the site.

As an added attraction, other features, such as the organizational structure of the Cadence staff, history, of the newsletter, and the sitemap for the Cadence office, will soon be provided.

The purpose of creating the site is to inform the cadets about various activities that the Corps has undergone and additional information about the ROTC and the military using the current trends in information dissemination.

The prototype site can be found at http://www2.upm.edu.ph/~rmfuruc. For comments and suggestions, feel free to contact the webmasters through the site guest book or email.
