Volume VII Number 3, December 1999-January 2000

The UP Manila Corps of Cadets facilitated the lantern parade held last December 16, 1999 around the UP-PGH compound and along Padre Faura and Taft Avenue. The Corps, which was represented mainly by the Rayadillo cadets, led by CCapt Raymundo Bautista Jr; and the Service Support Unit, headed by CCapt Ricky Bulalakaw;  assisted by directing the route and signaling along Taft Avenue where half of the volume of participants from different colleges took half the road in front of the Philippine General Hospital with the parade lasting for more than two hours.

Last year’s parade was conducted with lanterns which were smaller, because of a mandated ceiling size compared to those which were fielded last December 1998. however, if coordination was to be regarded, there were some problems in the order of participants and their presentation.

Nevertheless, the Corps of Cadets have always participated in the program. It was only during these past two years where in the unit’s role was more pronounced through its major participation in conducting the parade.
