This section contains information on ROTC as a training program and as a system in UP Manila.

The training of cadets are conducted every Sunday at the school campus and the parade grounds of Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, following the prescribed program of instructions (POI). Practical exercises such as ground navigation in map reading, squad tactics and drills are held there due to the inadequate grounds here in UPM and the shortage in other facilities or equipment for the said activities. The Commandant and his staff, assisted by the Cadet Officers, plan, execute and supervise the  conduct of training.

The MTS component is composed of MS 11/12 and MS 21/22 cadets. They are assigned either to Rayadillo “Honor Guards” company which excels in drills and ceremonies, and the Kampilan (Infantry) Battalion, which excels in unit tactics. Assisting the training is the Service Support Unit, which is composed mostly of light duty cadets tasked to do administrative works and are assigned with military police (MP), medics, commo and transpo detail cadets. At present, this ROTC Unit is re-organized into a regiment composed of two battalions (Rayadillo and Kampilan) and one service support unit.

The Civic Welfare Service (CWS) component is further subdivided into two modules: the PGH Immersion and the Tutorials module.
