Rolling Hitch

The rolling hitch is used to secure one line to another or to keep a line from slipping on a spar.  It is a knot that remains secure when tension is applied parallel to the standing rope, unlike most hitches.

It can also be shifted along the standing rope fairly easily.  This makes it useful for tents, mooring lines, etc...

To make the knot more secure, add an initial turn or two.
