Contingency or Retained Search?
Frequently, our clients ask how they can develop a partnership
with us, since they want to count on our firm to recruit for them
on an exclusive, or nearly exclusive basis. And with such a shortage
of quality business talent, a retainer, or startup fee paves the
way. When a client retains our service, we become virtual employees
of the firm or company that pays the startup fee. (That down payment
is usually applied to the final fee.)
Naturally, we give more attention to those organizations that have
retained us than those that give us contingency assignments. In
some cases, we provide a fee discount or refund guarantee for our
retainer clients, depending on the situation. Ask us about the discount
