We at Tyger Knight Smithy will make the weapon to the specific standard of the LARP for which it is needed.  We have rule books and standards for all the commonly played games, to ensure the weapons will pass safety inspection.  In most instances our weapons exceed the requirements.  If we do not have details on the requirements for a specific game, we will do the research to make sure the weapon is safe for your customers.  We will work with you to make sure you and your customers are completely satisfied.

The one thing we will never do is make a low quality, unprofessional looking, duct tape weapon.  (Sorry, no can do.)

Weapon Construction - All of our boffer weapons are made of  1/2”  or 3/4"  schedule 40, 600 psi  PVC pipe. You can special order schedule 20 PVC for daggers and short swords, depending upon the game.  All of the weapon blades are made with 5/8" closed cell foam padding, as well as 2 inches of high-density open cell foam padding for the tips and pommels.  Our smithy uses high-grade 665 and 672 Gaffers tape, not cheap duct tape; and, all weapons are weather sealed with a latex coating, a minimum of two coats of acrylic paint and a professional topcoat.

Top coat:  Prevents damage to the paint and provides additional weatherproofing.  This unique sealant also softens the paint, so the weapon does not hit as hard as many other boffer weapons.

Why use Gaff tape, if it is more expensive?   Gaff tape sticks better; it lays flat without protrusions.  It can be used to help shape foam.  Also gaff tape will hold paint.  Gaff tape looks better than duct tape, and lasts longer.  As the base, under the latex, it provides exceptional durability.  So, for a couple of extra dollars each weapon I can give you a nice looking, water resistant, durable weapon that will look great for a year to 2 years!

First coat:  Completely seals the boffer.  It is a layer of custom formulated latex.   It makes the weapons last longer and waterproof so that the tape will not come up at edges.  (For those of you with latex allergies, keep in mind that there are two coats of paint and an enamel sealant between the latex and you.)
