Year Story page 08 of 08

An important point to consider is that although this is "A" Year Story, it neither fully encompasses or is "THE" definitive Year Story. As understanding grows and changes over time, so will these tales. Please note that the dates for the changeovers have some minor differences from standard holiday calendars. This is due to the fact that all these holidays start at dusk and are calculated a little differently.

Dec21 Yule

Hadin Droupen approaches Gruag Fullfyllan . "My paths lead to dissolution and rebirth, yet I can not reach their end." "Why would you want to?" She replied. "I have seen too much and known too much, I cannot any longer be a true guide." "I am becoming too remote, I must renew!" "Then I shall dissolve you to your essence and make you anew." "Is there pain?" "Yes, unlearning is as painful as learning; as re-birth is as painful as birth." "Yet there is joy, too"; Gruag says, "Come to me!"

Jan4

Gruag Fullfyllan consults with Lokin Showen . "I find pleasure in what I do, yet I see there is more than I can renew." "Truth", he responds. "There is that which must be destroyed, so that new seeds may sprout, instead of the rebirth of the old." "Must I leave nothing?" "Only a level ground." "It is hard," she said, "To bring an end, without knowing a new beginning." "How can I do this?" "Simple," he replies, "Change is MY strength."

Lokin Showen comes to Gruag Droupen . "Everything I touch seems to collapse on me!", he pouts. "Every plan, my best tricks, all go awry." "Well, then Change, O Changer!" Gruag replies. "I'm afraid to try; can-you-help-me?" he finished in a rush. "Ah, that is rich, indeed," Gruag chortles, "The Changer needs help to change himself!" Lokin sulks, "Will you just DO it!?" Gruag smiles, then nods.

Feb2 Imbolc

Gruag Droupen stops Lokin Fullfyllan . "My time is done, my task is nearly complete, all that remains is for me to turn my power upon my self and fade into oblivion." Lokin is aghast at this speech. Who will he have as a butt for his tricks? Thinking fast, he says, "Well, I will miss you." "May I watch and maybe learn while you do this thing?" Gruag acquiesces. As Gruag openly calls her power, Lokin covertly calls his own. "Rot!" cries Gruag. "Change!" cries Lokin. And, as their powers mingle, something new is born.

Mar4

"Changer," Ariana Showen calls, "I need your aid, where are you?" Lokin Droupen arrives-behind her, of course. "At your elbow, my dear, what aid do you require of me?" "I need to flower to my full potential." "I think not." he responds. "What!?" "You are already doing things I have difficulty doing, why should I help you?" "So you get help on your next transition!" she retorts. "Well, that DOES put different face on things; I'll do it."

Mar20 Ostara

Lokin Droupen seeks Ariana Fullfyllan . "I've decided this growth thing isn't as much fun as I thought it would be. So, I need your help to return to my earlier, carefree self." "I cannot help you in this," Ariana replies. "My power is for growth, I cannot un-grow you any more than I could put the sprout back in the seed." "Can't you do SOMETHING?" Lokin sulks. "I can help you grow past this stage." she offers. "Well, it's not much, but it's better than nothing." he pouts. "Oh, I think you'll find it a lot better than nothing!" She smiles.
