The
shapes gallery is really a collection of miscellaneous macro images that
don't fit into the categories of the other galleries. The title implies more
thematic unity than the pictures have as group. During the winter, I'm
starved for macro subjects. The subjects I turn to first are leaves, winter
weeds and seeds. Abstracts come naturally with these subjects. I love leaves
in all seasons, so there are a few of those here as well, wet and dry, green
and brown.
Then
there is the odd subject I can't resist, such as the cattail on the left.
The cattail is biologically a flower, but it might be out of place in the
flower gallery. There are a number of drops here as well - on leaves,
branches, and pine needles. The drop pictures in John Shaw's books were an
inspiration, and they are a technical challenge, both for sharpness and
exposure.
