Farewell, Sam | ![]() |

"Sam, my little angel, what I will miss about you is a thousand
little things. I started watching for Rob and now Rob has gone, my
relationship with The West Wing, however much I love it, must end too.
Sam is the kind of man you wish really existed. Not just amazing good
looking, but smart, funny and he has a real heart, a stunning and beautiful
heart with compassion and dignity and a real respect for people. He is the
best friend men wish they'd had and the boyfriend women long for because he
has a real respect for women and for all his relationships. This makes Sam
Seaborn unlike any other character--he is the nicest man on TV thanks to Rob
Lowe's heartfelt passion for Sam and his ability to convey his heart through
his puppy dog eyes. --Courtesy of an anonymous Sam fan
Sam's idealism and true goodness will be missed. He is a
truly good guy and The West
Wing will be lost without him. Sam is the kind of guy we all wish we knew. --Courtesy of an anonymous Sam fan

After seeing the stunning performance given by Rob Lowe in "The California 47th" I have sworn never to watch The West Wing again. How they could let a character so wonderful and refreshing slip away as well as an actor so talented is beyond me.
Sam, I miss you already; his humour, class and charm made him stand out from the crowd. I wish politicians were as good-hearted and caring as Sam, and I wish men in general were too. Everyone should take a leaf out of Sam's book--be compassionate, be idealistic and be passionate enough to change the world.
All my love to Sam and Rob--for making a difference when it mattered.

Goodbye, Sam. You don't deserve to pushed out like this but we love you all the same. The West Wing will suffer in ratings now your gone and we will suffer now you're not on our TV. --Courtesy of Jannie Galiger
Thank-you Rob Lowe for being Sam Seaborn. It's been a great 4 years and Sam will be missed.
After countless letters, emails, and various other attempts to Save Sam it's not to be. I've admired your grace through the past 6 months. It couldn't have been easy. I won't be watching The West Wing after Sam is gone. Too painful.
I am looking forward to your new projects especially a new series for NBC. Good luck to Lyon's Den!
All the best to you and your family. Thanks for Sam! --Courtesy of TBMeow
Sam Seaborn, you will be missed. Your idealism, your patriotism, your chivalry. I'll miss your ability to apologize when you feel you've done wrong. I'll miss how you gave the crackpots attention and respect. I'll miss how you felt the government should reach high. I'll miss everything, but mostly I'll miss you because you were one of the last truly good men on TV.
Rob Lowe, I won't say goodbye to you. I'll just say see you later, because I'm sure I will see you later. A man of your talent will be on our screens for a long time to come.
Thank you for not only bringing Sam to life and giving him his soul, but for behaving in such a classy and dignified way throughout all of this.

Sam, you will be missed by me. But you're like me, so much it's
scary, so it won't be so different. And have fun with Ainsley in Miami! --Courtesy of an anonymous Sam fan
Thank you, Rob, for making Sam such a wonderful character.
You're an excellent actor. You gave Sam so much depth, even when there was
little to work with. I will miss Sam, but I will follow you away from "TWW"
to Lyon's Den. I look forward to falling in love with a new Rob Lowe
character. Here's to the future and your continued success!

Sam Seaborn, one of a kind.
Sam Seaborn, one of us.
This only I say.

Sam, I miss you so much already. You were without doubt the best character on The West Wing and the show will always feel empty now you've gone.
Rob, even when they shouted you down and your colleagues at The West Wing were less than civil about you, you were dignified and classy. I have so much respect for a man of your integrity and I wish you good luck on Lyon's Den.

Eu o adoro. --Courtesy of Angel
How ironic that such a character as Sam, who left a
$500/hr.
job because he didn't believe in what he was doing anymore to go earn less money than any kid with a paper route doing what he loved, should end in dispute over wanting more money. I suppose I should look on the bright side: At least he got written off, unlike Mandy (and countless others) who just disappeared.
To Samuel Norman Seaborn, who fought the tough fights that needed
fighting, lent words to the voiceless and the disenchanted, and knew how to wear a tux: may he have a long political career off-screen, full of happiness, success, and the ability to change the world; may he speak words of great wisdom in both English and Spanish with the power to change minds, hearts, and policy; and may he always remain true to the Sam we have all grown to
know and love, so full of optimism and hope for a better world.
Vaya y cambia el mundo, Sam; Te echaró el menos mucho.

I will miss you. Please think of me. I will always be your fan. --Courtesy of Susan Coon
Sam was the most inspirational character I have seen on TV. He was the man who lent voice to everyone who couldn't speak for themselves & he was the good guy 100% of the time.
I guess he started out in Aaron Sorkin's imagination as the George Stephanopoulos character in The West Wing -- the young ambitious & attractive one the girls could love, but Rob Lowe made him so much more. A true fighter with the best of hearts and the guy we all wanna know or be.
Sam has left a void in The West Wing that cannot be filled & I'm sad to say I'm not the avid viewer I once was. The show is still good, but it's not great and it won't be without Sam. He was the Heart in the show, the compassion and the one who never took the easy route out for political gain. He was honourable until the end.
May Sam have an amazing career in California and guest star in our favorite show sometimes!
And may Rob have the lifelong successes he so deserves. I will be first in the queue for his new movie A View From the Top and I am waiting excitedly for Lyon's Den to start!
Goodbye sweet Sam and Good look Rob.

Bye Sam...
I'll Miss you. --Courtesy of Emma
Sam was the best thing about The West Wing, the hope of
the future. We need to still hear Sam's echo in the writing. Sam Seaborn Lives! --Courtesy of an anonymous Sam fan
Goodbye, Sam, you were an inspiration. I wish everyone had
your goodness in reality. All the very best of luck to Rob Lowe in his future projects. He is a very talented actor and a good guy who is an easy target of ridicule and has suffered cruel comments for way too long. Many people love & appreciate your talent, Rob, and we look forward to Lyon's Den. God Bless.

Thank you, Rob, for your dedication to your character. I will miss the idealistic reminder of the goodness of America that Sam Seaborn emanated. May he (and you) find success in further endeavors. --Courtesy of an anonymous Sam fan

I will miss you sooooooo much!!!!! The White House will never have a speech writer like you again! We love you!! --Courtesy of Kelly
Good Bye, Sam, you were the best character on TWW. Your
honesty, caring, thoughtfulness and intelligence will be sorely
missed. How
they could have let you go is beyond me! Good Bye, Rob, you have an
amazing
talent and you brought Sam to life. I will miss you both. Looking
forward to
seeing you on my TV again. --Courtesy of Debbie
There are certain characters that a viewer loves from the
beginning. Sam Seaborn is one of those actors. He brings a chivalrous and
yet vulnerability to the White House. I will miss Sam Seaborn and hope that
he returns to the West Wing if not for his sake for his best friend Josh. --Courtesy of Michele,
avid The West Wing watcher
This show is just not the same without you, Rob! The soul has gone now Sam has gone! Good Luck with Lyon's Den. May it be the huge success we all know it can be.

Goodbye, old friend. I will miss you. --Courtesy of Chelsea
Sam, you were my favorite member of the White House
senior staff, and it has not been the same without you. No one has as much
heart as you. You put great effort into everything that you do, and
you are always trying to change the world. And yes, you did accidentally
sleep with a prostitute, but then you tried to change her, and that was
heroic. I love you Sam! And thank you Rob Lowe for portraying Sam!
You are so beautiful and an awesome actor. You definitely should have
been the highest paid cast member!

Miss you, Sam. --Courtesy of TGill
I loved Sam's ability to be different one day from the next. One day he's a
fighter standing up for his beliefs and loyal to his cause, the next he is a
supporter of a friend or someone in need, and he will be quiet and loving and
dignified.
Sam you're a class act (and Rob you are too)!
Good luck to both alter egos!
Godspeed our sunshine man to the sunshine state. We miss you already Samuel
Norman Seaborn."
your charm
your humour
your class
your intelligence
your beauty
and above all you!
I will miss you and I love you
Good Luck.
