COMPTON HEIGHTS BAND PERFORMS 1812 OVERTURE WITH ARTILLERY ACCOMPANIMENT Three guns of Company M, manned by members from throughout the Brigade, once again participated in the annual patriotic-themed concerts presented by the Compton Heights Concert Band on June 28 and 29, 2009.
ARTILLERY SCHOOL TRAINS 59 CANNONEERS Twenty-three Turner Brigade members were joined by 36 other Union and Confederate cannoneers for an artillery safety school conducted by representatives of the National Civil War Artillery Association on June 27, 2009, at Jefferson Barracks County Park in south St. Louis County, Missouri. NCWAA Chairman-Elect Ethan Barnett, Secretary-Elect Suzannah Hicks and Todd Kiscaden of Virginia, assisted by Sons of Veterans Reserve Gen. Charles Corfman of Ohio, provided the latest information on artillery drill safety and procedures as recommended by the NCWAA.
BRIGADE BOLSTERS UNION FORCES AT JACKSONVILLE Brigade members returned to Jacksonville, Illinois for the the annual "Grierson Days" reenactment held June 20-21, 2009.
BRIGADE MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES Turner Brigade members joined the Sons of Union Veterans and other veterans' groups in Memorial Day ceremonies on May 25, 2009 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in south St. Louis County, Mo.
