Prevention specialist\Consultant
Jeff is presently employed with a large Atlanta
metro area school system as a Prevention Intervention specialist\consultant. Before
coming to the Prevention Intervention
Center in 1990, Jeff worked with adolescents in residential and psychiatric
settings for a number of years. He has his master’s certificate in addiction
counseling (MAC), and received his master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern University in Chicago in 1986. Jeff is also a certified Prevention
Counselor (PCCG4) with the state of Georgia. His master’s research project was a study of music and drug addiction.
Jeff does a number of workshops for parents,
students and educators. Topics include music and the media, motivational talks,
diversity, stress, suicide and depression, healthy relationships, bullying and violence prevention, peer programs and youth
development, drug prevention and other topics that are relevant to kids, parents, and educators.
Jeff was awarded the Community Counselor of the
Year award in 2001. The Prevention Intervention
Center, the program that Jeff has been involved with for the last 14
years won the National Prevention Program of the Year in 2002.
Jeff has written numerous articles related to
children and adolescent issues. He
has spoken at local and national conferences and has also appeared on local and national television.
